If something isn't working, or there's something you'd like to tell us, write to us. The questions we hear most are answered below.
Is my journal still there after I change phones or delete the app?
No. Your entries, moods, photos, wish boards and places are stored only on your phone and are never uploaded. We hold no copy, so we can't recover them for you.
- Signing in to the same account on a new phone brings back your nickname, photo and settings. The journal starts empty.
- Deleting the app deletes the journal on that phone with it.
- Signing out keeps the journal on the phone. Sign in with the same account to pick up where you left off.
If you move your whole iPhone to a new one with iCloud Backup or Quick Start, the app's local data usually travels with the device backup. That backup belongs to Apple's system and never passes through our server, so we can't run it for you or guarantee the result.
What happens if I sign in with a different account on the same phone?
Each account keeps its own data on the phone. Sign in with another account and you see that account's journal. Switch back and yours is as you left it.
Phone number and email are separate ways to sign in. Signing in with a phone number and signing in with an email give you two different accounts, and their data is not merged.
I'm not receiving the verification code
- A code is valid for 5 minutes. You can request a new one 60 seconds after the last.
- Each phone number or email can be sent up to 10 codes a day. After that, try again the next day.
- Phone sign-in currently supports 11-digit mainland China numbers only. Elsewhere, sign in with email.
- No text message: check whether your phone's spam filter caught it.
- No email: check your spam folder, and that the address is typed correctly.
If it still doesn't arrive, write to us.
How do I delete my account?
- Open the app and go to the Me tab at the bottom.
- Scroll to Account, tap Delete account and confirm.
You are signed out on every device right away, and your profile, photo and settings are removed from the cloud. The account record is erased within 7 days, and usage events are no longer linked to you. Registering again with the same number or email creates a brand-new account.
Deleting your account does not delete the journal on your phone. What remains goes to the next account that signs in on this phone. To remove it as well, erase the local data before you delete the account, or delete the app.
If you can no longer sign in to the app, write to us and we'll take care of it.
How do I erase the data on my phone?
- Open the app and go to the Me tab at the bottom.
- Tap Erase all local data and confirm twice.
Diaries, photos, joys, wish boards, footprints and badges are removed from this device. This can't be undone, and we can't restore them. Only the data of the account currently signed in on this phone is erased. The account itself, and the profile and settings in the cloud, stay as they are.
